Dr. Kristin Smith
Physical Therapist
Dr. Kristin Smith, PT, DPT, COMT, CMTPT/DN
Dr. Kristin earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!). While there, she also built experience in personal training and fitness. After graduation, she completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Kristin has continued to expand her expertise since then. Her postgraduate credentials include certifications in Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and Manual Trigger Point Therapist/Dry Needling (CMTPT/DN). She is also pursuing a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certification.
Helping people move better is what drew Dr. Kristin to this field. She appreciates that physical therapy allows her to meet patients where they are and guide them toward their goals. In each session, she focuses on reducing pain and building confidence. Seeing people accomplish what they set out to do is the most gratifying part of the job for her. She is passionate about helping patients create lasting habits to maintain an active life at their desired capacity.
Dr. Kristin also connects patients with local resources that support an active lifestyle. Her approach to care starts with finding each patient’s “why.” She believes that “why” is the driving factor. It could be running their next marathon or dancing at a grandchild’s wedding. Regardless, it helps patients not only meet their PT goals, but also find joy in movement again.
When she’s not working with patients, Dr. Kristin enjoys soccer, working out, reading, crocheting, and spending time with family. She also makes time for golfing, hitting the beach, cooking, and cheering on the Ravens and Hokies every fall. Her favorite golf course she has played so far is The Ocean Course in Kauai, Hawaii.
