Dr. Sarah Catlett

Physical Therapist

Dr. Sarah Catlett, DPT

Dr. Sarah earned her undergraduate degree, with a major in German Studies, from the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!). She then completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Langston University (Go Lions!).

Her career began in subacute rehab, and she later moved into acute care. After becoming pregnant with her second child, she developed an interest in pelvic health. She has focused on pelvic health ever since. Her additional training includes pelvic health and ICU rehabilitation.

Dr. Sarah loves helping all people, but pregnancy and postpartum care is her favorite. She feels that pregnant and postpartum patients often don’t get the support they need. Dr. Sarah describes it this way: “Pregnancy is like carrying a 30 lbs weight for several months and just expecting your body to be okay with it.” Giving birth is a significant physical event, too. A C-section is one of the few major surgeries where the recovery expectation is caring for someone else. Dr. Sarah calls that “wild to think about.”.

Building rapport with patients is one of Dr. Sarah’s favorite parts of the job. Many of her pelvic health patients are in the same stage of life as she is. That shared stage helps her connect with them. She also loves teaching people how their bodies work. Many symptoms are common, but that does not make them normal.

Pelvic health can be a sensitive subject, and Dr. Sarah understands why patients may feel anxious. The best way she has found to put them at ease is to be open and honest. That openness lets her relate to them about the difficulties of pregnancy, motherhood, and life in general.

Her expertise also allows Dr. Sarah to take part in community outreach. She has participated in blood pressure screenings and given health fair presentations on falls and fall recovery. At her church, she has also taught classes in strength, balance, and mobility for older adults.

Life with two kids keeps Dr. Sarah in what she calls the “trenches.” Every night of the week and most weekends revolve around activities or playdates. To carve out time for herself, she wakes up at 4 am. Those few hours go to reading, watching TV, or playing Mahjong on her phone. She spends her free time with family (dog included!) and friends. Dr. Sarah also studied German, French, and Spanish and still remembers quite a bit of German and Spanish.
